Illiberal Virtuosity

Crushing leftist maladroits since birth.

Thank You Mr. McCain!

A few days ago I posted “Thank You Mr. Obama!” rather sarcastically.  Today, my sentiments are genuine and pure.   I truly want to express my sincere gratitude to John McCain.   I am certain that I speak for many of my fellow conservatives when I say that up until this point, the whole campaign, indeed life, was becoming a harsh lesson in disappointment.

It’s no secret that many conservatives are not fond of some of Mr. McCain’s positions on certain issues.   I suppose it is universally accepted that we appreciate his military service and respect his character.  We, however, have had to really swallow some major negatives to maintain the tiniest bit of warmth in our support for a man who has repeatedly showed disdain for conservatism itself.   (Lest we forget, the highlights are: The McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Bill which conservatives find objectionable as it is essentially contrary to the first ammendment.  Next you have McCain-Kennedy which is “the” pro-amnesty immigration bill he co-sponsored.  Also, McCain-Lieberman which is the no drilling in ANWR legislation.)

However, today is a new day and it appears John McCain remembered he is indeed a Republican with the selection of Sarah Palin of Alaska as his VP choice.  I am positively giddy about the whole thing.  I don’t know if its because McCain actually did something out of deference to us Americans out here.  By “Americans”, I mean the smart enough to know what they are doing conservatives who are resigned to vote for his sorry ass to prevent the end of the world an Obama victory would ensure.   Or possibly and even more likely, that its just that she is really really a great pick.   You can smell the patriotism on her from miles away and not only does she sound like a conservative, she has an actual record of acting like one too.

I am proud to be one of those “damned right wing bloggers” because I think it is in no small part to our significant voices demanding a real conservative be on the ticket that we got one.   I keep hearing the newsmedia say she came out of nowhere but thats completely not true. My fellow bloggers and I have been suggesting Ms. Palin as well as Rep. Eric Cantor as ideal choices for the office for many months.   I guess in the end McCain recognized he needs conservatives to win the Presidency.

I also noted that today the Democrat pundits have taken to using the word “conservative” with a bit of a negative connotation in their talking points.  What they don’t get is that we are proud of being “conservative”.  This is unlike them, who hide their “liberal” outlook and instead call themselves “progressive” or some such tripe.

So far Mrs. Palin has shown she is proud to be an American and a “conservative”.   For the first time in this election cycle, I am proud to say I am behind a candidate.  Let’s hope she can keep Mr. McCain in line.

I just heard the news that Obama’s choice for Veep is none other than Joe Biden.  Personally, I think it would have been hard to make a worse pick.  I am still in shock about just how stupid this truly is.  Here is my logic.

Obama’s constituency is made in three parts.   Part I is obviously the racebaiting part where he plans to command 90 plus percent of the black vote.   Part II is the “hope & change” subscribers.  You know who I mean, the barely literate masses who are voting because Obama makes them ”feel” good.  These people know nothing of the issues.  Of course, Obama has cleverly avoided alerting them to where he stands as that could be dangerous.  The third and final Part of Obama’s constituency is what I refer to the “stealth ultra lefties”.   These are the idiots that contribute to the Huffington Post and the Daily Kos and fawn over super socialists like Ned Lamont and his ilk.  They realize that they have had to lay low because there overzealous enthusiasm for Obama might send the middle group of “hope and change” hippies over the top if they catch on to what Obama is all about.

Now that he has chosen Biden, the stealth lefties will certainly rejoice as he is one of their most esteemed leaders.  This is going to put a nice crack in the facade that is Obama’s image and the seething beast of leftwing whackoness will be revealed.   The “hope and change” Morlocks will begin to question the certainty of Barack’s messianic nature and the plume of smoke from the carnage will be seen for many miles.    They will ask why Mr. Hope & Change would nominate as his VP some old white guy who is the worst kind of Washington Insider who is the embodiment of “politics as usual”.   Just seeing the two of them on the campaign trail will show them the insignificance of Obama.  They will wonder why the “magic of Obama” needs an ultra-leftist has been who only got 9,000 votes in the primaries to strengthen the ticket in the areas of experience and foreign policy.  They will begin to think and lord help them when they do.   They will need strength to accept their own foolishness and to back away from the evil puss of liberalism seeping through the cracked image of Obama’s candidacy and then they will begin to eat their masters.

Hallelujah!
